Prague’s Vaccination Bus

The City of Prague has decided to make vaccination against Covid-19 as easy as possible for everyone who has not yet registered, has not yet received an appointment date or is still hesitant. The vaccination bus will visit Prague’s most popular public locations starting 31 July. Anyone interested in vaccination who hasn’t yet registered for an appointment may come at any time during the opening hours. Those who wish to receive their second dose may come as well, but must comply with the minimum interval of 21 days between doses. Registration will be performed on site.

Whom Do We Vaccinate?

We vaccinate anyone over 16 years of age. At selected locations, we can also vaccinate children aged 12–15. Vaccination is available also to foreigners and those who need their second jab.

  • Vaccination of children aged 12–15: At selected stops of the Vaccination Bus, it will also be possible to vaccinate children aged 12–15. A paediatrician will be on hand. Stops where children can be vaccinated are marked on the bus route with the 12+ icon. The age group 12–15 is only vaccinated with Comirnaty (BionTech/Pfizer).
  • The presence of a legal guardian is essential during the administration of the Covid-19 vaccination to minors aged 12 to 15 (inclusive). The presence of just one legal guardian is sufficient. The legal guardian must provide informed consent to the vaccination. Written informed consent of the legal guardian is not required.   • Vaccinating persons over the age of 16: The presence of a legal guardian for minors aged 16+ is not required during the administration of the Covid-19 vaccination (with the exception of individuals with mental disorders). The vaccinated person provides informed consent to the vaccination.   • Vaccination of foreigners: Vaccination of foreigners is carried out in accordance with the conditions set by the Ministry of Health of the Czech Republic. For more information, see here and here.
  • Administering the second dose: The Vaccination Bus can also provide the second vaccination dose. However, it is necessary to observe the minimal interval of 21 days between two doses of Comirnaty (BionTech/Pfizer).
  • Vaccination of self-payers: Vaccination of self-payers is currently available only at the HOMEPARK Zličín stop on 8 September 2021. For more information refer to the schedule. Vaccination of self-payers is carried out in accordance with the conditions set by the Ministry of Health of the Czech Republic. You can pay by cash or card. We prefer payment by card. The price of one dose of the Comirnaty vaccine (BionTech/Pfizer) – 809 CZK, the price of the Janssen-Cilag vaccine (Johnson&Johnson) – 579 CZK.

Which Vaccinate We Use?

The Vaccination Bus uses the vaccine Comirnaty (BionTech/Pfizer) and the single-dose Janssen-Cilag (Johnson & Johnson).

  • The Janssen-Cilag (Johnson & Johnson) vaccine cannot be combined with any other vaccine.
  • To receive your second jab of Comirnaty (BionTech/Pfizer), you can make an appointment at the Metropolitan Vaccination Centre, come back to the Vaccination Bus at any of its stops, or visit one of the non-registration sites.

What to Expect?

How to prepare and what to bring?

  • Proof of identity (valid ID or passport).
  • Valid insurance card.
  • Appropriate clothing that allows easy access to your upper arm.

What to do inside the Vaccination Bus?

  • Cover your mouth and nose with an FFP2 respirator or a similar alternative.
  • Maintain social distance.
  • Disinfect your hands.
  • Follow the instructions of the staff.
  • Always answer truthfully when asked about your health by a medical professional.
  • Be respectful.
    Do not enter the bus with large luggage, weapons, food and drink or animals.

What does the vaccination process involve?

REGISTRATION Have your health insurance card and identity document ready.We will confirm and complete your registration in the national systems.

DOCTOR Together with a physician, you will complete the vaccination questionnaire.The doctor will ask you a number of questions pertaining to your state of health and any allergies you may have.

VACCINATION The vaccine will be administered into a muscle in the area of your shoulder.
ADMINISTRATION Prepare the vaccination documentation.You will receive a vaccination card and information regarding the recommended time of your departure.

WAITING ROOM Once the vaccine has been administered, wait in the waiting room in case you feel unwell.
The recommended waiting time is 30 minutes.

FAQ

Who is the operator of the Vaccination Bus?

The Vaccination Bus of the City of Prague is staffed by the vaccination team of the Metropolitan Vaccination Centre at the Prague Congress Centre from MEDICON, a.s. The Vaccination Bus is safe. All the medical and non-medical staff are vaccinated or tested and the bus is regularly disinfected.

The Vaccination Bus also serves as an education and information point where you can ask any questions or voice concerns you may have about Covid-19 vaccination. A professional is on hand to help you.

Is there wheelchair access?

Yes, the Vaccination Bus is wheelchair accessible and fully prepared to vaccinate people with disabilities.

When do I receive my certificate?

It is possible to display and print out records of the receipt of the 1st and 2nd vaccination doses on the 
Citizens’ Vaccination Portal website at ocko.uzis.cz immediately after administration. For more information about the vaccination certificate, visit the website of the Ministry of Health of the Czech Republic.

When will I receive my second appointment?

You will be assigned a date immediately after the administration of the first dose on the Vaccination Bus. To receive your second jab of Comirnaty (BionTech/Pfizer), you can make an appointment at the Metropolitan Vaccination Centre, come back to the Vaccination Bus at any of its stops, or visit one of the vaccination sites that do not require registration. Alternatively, you can ask to be registered at the vaccination site of your choice. If you receive the single-dose Janssen-Cilag vaccine, you will receive your vaccination certificate immediately.

Can I visit the bus just to register at a vaccination centre?

Yes; if you don’t wish to register for vaccination yourself but would like to be vaccinated in a vaccination centre, you can come to the Vaccination Bus to register for an appointment at the Metropolitan Vaccination Centre at the Prague Congress Centre.

Where and how can I register for vaccination in the Vaccination Bus?

There is no need to register through the Central Reservation System or in any other way for the Vaccination Bus. Just come to the Vaccination Bus stop and wait in the queue. Anyone interested in vaccination who hasn’t yet registered for an appointment may come at any time during the opening hours. Those who wish to receive their second dose may come as well, but must comply with the minimum interval of 21 days between doses. Registration will be performed on site.

If I already have an appointment elsewhere, can I cancel it and come to the bus?

Yes. The link for cancelling the reservation is sent in the email with the original date of the reservation. It is also possible to cancel your appointment online at registrace.mzcr.cz/detail. The date for the administration of the second dose will then also be automatically cancelled.

Do you also vaccinate foreigners and self-payers?

It is possible to vaccinate foreigners, but only those who have public health insurance that meets the conditions set by the Ministry of Health of the Czech Republic. For more information, see the Vaccination of Foreigners page. It is not currently possible to vaccinate self-payers.

Do you also vaccinate self-payers on the Vaccination Bus?

No. The service is not currently available to self-payers.

Can I choose which vaccine I get on the spot?

Yes. The Vaccination Bus administers either the two-dose vaccine Comirnaty (BionTech/Pfizer) or the single-dose Janssen-Cilag (Johnson & Johnson). You can choose on the spot.

Vaccination without prior registration

If you are not yet registered at any vaccination site, you can use one of the many vaccination sites where registration is not required. Anyone interested in vaccination who hasn’t yet registered for an appointment may come at any time during the opening hours. Those who wish to receive their second dose may come as well, but must comply with the minimum interval of 21 days between doses. Registration will be performed on site.
